PROFESSIONAL OFFICER
Permanent Position
The INMO is the largest Irish professional nursing/midwifery Organisation in Ireland, representing over 50,000 members. The Organisation advocates on behalf of members in industrial relations, professional practice, and education matters both within the Republic of Ireland and through affiliated organisations across the EU and global nursing, midwifery, and trade union networks.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is seeking to appoint a Professional Officer to join INMO Professional.
Role Overview
This role will provide strategic professional leadership and policy expertise in relation to nursing and midwifery practice, professional standards and health policy.
The Professional Officer will provide strategic professional leadership within the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation in relation to nursing and midwifery practice, professional standards, workforce development and health policy.
The role will have a particular focus on:
- Midwifery practice
- Maternity policy
- Advancement of the midwifery profession in Ireland
The successful candidate will:
- Contribute to the development of professional policy
- Support INMO professional sections
- Provide expert input to national policy discussions affecting nurses and midwives
The role will also support the INMO’s work as the National Midwives Association representing Ireland internationally through engagement with organisations including the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) and the European Midwives Association (EMA).
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be registered as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
- Have significant clinical experience
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of maternity services and the Irish health system

Salary: (€84,473 – €105,076)
