Make the most of your union

INMO members can become workplace reps and health and safety reps or become more involved in their local branch

Become an INMO representative

You can become more involved with the work of the INMO by becoming a workplace representative.

Becoming an INMO rep gives you the chance to make a real difference to your patients, the working lives of yourself and your colleagues - and even the future of nursing and midwifery.

INMO reps connect with members to find out what matters to them, provide support to get those issues heard and win changes that make a difference.

Become a health and safety representative

The health and wellbeing of the nursing and midwifery workforce is fundamental to the quality of care our members can provide. Our members have the right to a safe and healthy workplace.

Health and safety reps understand and champion safe working practice and environments. Their role is protected under the law and they help members to understand and identify risk.

Get involved with your local branch

Branches are the basic unit of the INMO. They are made up of groups of members working for the same employer or several employers in the same geographical area.

Within each branch there are established elected positions as well as many members who help out in an informal way.

Getting involved in your branch offers a chance for you to influence the decisions of the branch and the INMO, and in turn make a difference in your workplace.
