The INMO is seeking to appoint a Professional Officer to join INMO Professional. The Professional Officer will provide strategic professional leadership within the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation in relation to nursing and midwifery practice, professional standards, workforce development and health policy.

The INMO has stated that 11,130 patients have been treated without a hospital bed in March 2026, making it the second highest March on record in terms of hospital overcrowding. 

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has objected to the lack of required engagement with the HSE regarding staffing increases necessary before transfer of services in Killarney Community Hospital to a new building.
