The INMO National Executive Council (NEC) is a group of working nurses and midwives elected to direct the work and policy of the organisation. INMO Executive Council members not only represent their hospital, branch, grade and/or section but nationally all members regardless of grade or profession. The Executive also represent members on both the national and international stage, through our affiliations and our membership of organisations representing the professional and clinical interests of nurses and midwives.
The Executive Council is made up of twenty-two full members, including the President, first Vice- President, and second Vice-President, and holds office for a two-year period. The 16 clinical seats of the Executive Council are filled by at least two Registered General Nurses and at least one member each in a Midwife seat, a PHN seat, a Children’s nurse seat and an RNID seat. The NEC also includes two Education seats, three management seats and one student seat.
Rules regarding who may vote in the election of Executive Council members, and other regulations surrounding the ballot, can be found in the INMO rule book.
Nominations are open for this year's election. The deadline for nominations is 5pm 9th of February 2026. Forms will be issued to members by post and are available via their branches and local officials, and they can also be downloaded at the links below.
