The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has called on Government to make specific provisions for healthcare workers, particularly nurses and midwives working in the community.
An INMO spokesperson said:
The INMO has constantly raised the concerns of staff working in the public health sector directly with the HSE over the weekend. We are not satisfied with the response thus far. It is clear that Government and the HSE must provide realistic measures to support public healthcare workers at this time, specifically placing nurses and midwives who receive mileage on the highest band available. Specific provisions must be made for nurses and midwives who have no option but to use their personal cars to provide healthcare services on behalf of the State.
