INMO Recognises Members’ Achievements at Annual Conference

The INMO has announced the winners of its three annual member prizes, awarded at its annual delegate conference. The three INMO prizes recognise outstanding contributions by members in the areas of research, mentorship and union activism, and are awarded during the union’s annual meeting.

This year’s INMO conference is being held in Wexford and attended by around 300 nurse and midwife union members.

The INMO’s Preceptor of the Year award, sponsored by Cornmarket Financial Services, was won by nurse Mary Linzell in Cork University Hospital, who was nominated by student nurse Hazel Beamish. The Preceptor of the Year award recognises the role of mentorship in nurse and midwife education, with preceptors nominated by student nurses and midwives across the country.

This year’s CJ Coleman research prize was awarded to Sarah Gleeson, Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Mercy University Hospital Cork, for her research project ‘Implementation of a Nurse Led Shingrix Vaccination Clinic for Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease’.

The Gobnait O’Connell award, which recognises members who have made an extraordinary contribution to the union and its work, was awarded to Liz Nolan,  Clinical Placement Coordinator in Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

INMO Director of Professional Services Tony Fitzpatrick stated

Our annual conference is an opportunity to reflect on the advances our members have made over the past year, and recognising some of the extraordinary work being done by nurses and midwives is a vital part of that reflection.

The standards for these awards are very high, demonstrating the professionalism and generosity of many of our members, whose commitment to their professions and their colleagues exceeds expectations year after year.

It is a privilege for the INMO to be able to celebrate our members’ contributions and achievements, not just in their workplaces but also in terms of the hard work required to make their union as strong as possible.
