Commenting on the continued denial of aid to those in Gaza, INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha said:
Irish nurses and midwives are looking on helplessly at the continued denial of aid to those in desperate need Gaza. The fact that children who are victims of forced displacement are dying of malnutrition must be condemned. We all know how critical nurses, midwives and healthcare workers are in times of conflict. The situation that healthcare workers in Gaza are facing — a genocide, is deplorable. It is not enough for world leaders to act as commentators. They must take action to ensure that aid is delivered and that what remains of the healthcare system in Gaza can function. Supporting the safety, wellbeing, and ability to practise of healthcare workers in Gaza is fundamental to effective humanitarian action at this juncture.
