Members will be aware from our last members’ update that the INMO intends to ballot all its members in the public service in response to the government’s inaction in relation to the cost-of-living crisis.
Your Executive Council feels very strongly that nurses and midwives must be part of this campaign. There are many examples where the employers have delayed and prevaricated on agreements, and this is simply not acceptable. Agreements that have been brokered must be implemented prior to entering into any new agreements. We have to see that the system of negotiating public service pay will change and reflect more accurately the very real crisis that you as public servants working as nurses and midwives in the public health service now face.
Meetings and balloting opportunities will be taking place in workplaces across the country until the first week of September. You can find out when your local INMO official will be in your workplace on the INMO website here.
We’ve broken down the issues at hand in the video below. Please take a few minutes to see what is at stake.
As General Secretary, I’m looking forward to engaging with members over the coming weeks. I want to meet as many nurses and midwives as possible to hear your views on what the next public service pay deal should look like.
We will be hosting online meetings for all INMO members who work in the public service, and I would ask that you please try to join one of the meetings and make your voice heard.
Please see the online meeting dates and times below, along with the links to join via Teams:

Please join with your colleagues right across the public services in demonstrating your disquiet and unhappiness with the manner in which the increasing cost of living concerns you now face are being ignored by your employer.
Have your say; vote YES to engaging in industrial action to achieve real responses to the cost of living crisis.
Please note this is a separate ballot from the Senior Nurse & Midwife Managers ballot, as the two ballots relate to different disputes. Senior Nurse & Midwifery Managers employed in the public service should attend the information meetings and vote in both ballots
