Agreement reached between Unions and HSE regarding Killarney Community Nursing Unit

Following negotiations under the auspices of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), an agreement has been reached regarding the safe staffing of Killarney Community Nursing Unit, enabling the unit to open safely on a phased basis from August 10th

INMO Assistant Director of Industrial Relations, Liam Conway, said:

Following intensive negotiations, an agreement has been reached between unions (INMO, SIPTU and Fórsa) and the HSE regarding the safe staffing required to open the new Community Nursing Unit in Killarney.

The INMO sought safe staffing levels and the staffing negotiated at the Workplace Relations Commission has been strengthened. The HSE has committed to implementing the agreed staffing arrangements for Killarney Community Hospital.

The INMO and its members are committed to ensuring that patient and staff safety remain at the centre of the planned move into the new building and the continued provision of care. Ensuring recruitment continues for the staff required to operate the unit safely is essential if the facility is to open at its full capacity. The INMO will continue to monitor the implementation of this agreement.
