INMO Satisfied That No Waiting Period Applies To Equality For Agency Workers.
Press Release 01.12.11

PRESS RELEASE,  Thursday 1st December 2011

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), were represented at a meeting between Minister Richard Bruton, ICTU and IBEC yesterday evening, relating to the Temporary Agency Directive.

The INMO is pleased that the position it advocated has materialised and there is no agreement to a waiting period prior to equal treatment applying between agency workers and directly employed workers.

Speaking today, Phil Ni Sheaghdha, INMO Director of Industrial Relations said:

“This is a very good day for agency workers. The INMO has long argued that agency nurses and midwives are entitled to equality with directly employed nurses and midwives,  and this is now realisable. The INMO will immediately seek to meet with health sector employers to agree the implementation method.”
