You may have seen reports of a government spending review into staffing and pay in the health services, including references to the nursing and midwifery workforce. The report makes exaggerated claims about the pay and numbers of nurses and midwives, using flawed international statistics. The INMO has already refuted these figures in our submission to the Public Sector Pay Commission, and we will continue to do so at every opportunity.
The difficulties facing our health services are real and no amount of rhetoric can deny what nurses and midwives face every day.
