INO Members At Killarney Community Hospital To Engage In Withdrawal Of Labour From 3-4Pm Today 22nd May 2009

PRESS RELEASE, Friday, May 22nd, 2009

The dispute by INO members at Killarney Community Hospital continues today with a withdrawal of labour from 3-4pm. Members of the Organisation are campaigning against the imposition of changes in the management structures within the Hospital which will inevitably lead to a downgrading in the status of the Hospital.  Essential services will be maintained.

Speaking this morning, INO Industrial Relations Officer, Michael Dineen said:

“It is regrettable that this dispute continues but it is indicative of the lack of accountability that exists within the HSE.  The imposition of the changes within Killarney Community Hospital are the thin end of the wedge as we have serious concerns in regard to all nursing posts that may fall vacant within care of the elderly services in future that there does not appear to be a commitment on the part of management to fill these vacancies with nurses.”
