INO Nurses Call On Management At Limerick Regional Hospital To Practice Accurate Reporting. 02/11/07

PRESS RELEASE, Friday, November 2nd, 2007

INO members in Limerick Regional Hospital were incensed this morning to hear their alleged short-comings broadcast over the national airways by the HSE.  The allegations referred to a Theatre procedure which the HSE say did not have a nurse present.

The INO is categorical in its assurances to the public that full nursing services were provided in this case and that if the HSE simply took the time to ask they would have established this.

Contrary to the impression given by the Minister’s statements nurses display consistent flexibility in meeting patients needs under very demanding circumstances.

Speaking earlier, INO Industrial Relations Officer, Patsy Doyle said:

The HSE has demonstrated a poor style of management in this case. They have misrepresented reality and caused needless fear and concern to the public”.

The nurses condemn this behaviour and the INO calls on the HSE to apologise to the nurses of Limerick Regional Hospital.
