INO/PNA Members In Cork And Kerry To Conduct One-Hour Stoppages Tomorrow. 03/05/07

JOINT PRESS RELEASE,   Thursday, May 3rd, 2007
The Irish Nurses Organisation and the Psychiatric Nurses Association will hold a one-hour stoppage tomorrow, Friday, May 4th from 11.00a.m. to 12.00 noon outside the gates of Cork University Hospital and Tralee General Hospital. Members in Cork and Kerry are this morning putting the finishing touches to their contingency plans to underpin the latest escalation of the nurses and midwives dispute.

The dissolution of the recent NIB talks between the INO/PNA and the HSE has provoked a resolute response from the memberships of both unions.

Speaking earlier today Industrial Relations Officers Patsy Doyle and Michael Dineen jointly said:

“We are calling on all available nurses and midwives in private, public and voluntary services to attend the stoppages in support of their colleagues in Cork University Hospital, St. Mary’s Orthopaedic Hospital, South Lee Mental Health Services, Tralee General Hospital and North Kerry Mental Health Services.

Members are standing firm, focussed and determined in pursuit of a 35 hour week and elimination of the pay anomaly of 10.6% and will not rest until they see deliverance on the claims.

We call on the people of Cork and Kerry to support the nurses and midwives in our fight to preserve the integrity of the public health service in Ireland”.
