INO Members In Limerick Disappointed By Comments Of Professor Gupta Regarding Cancer Patient. 06/04/07

PRESS STATEMENT,  Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Further to inaccurate reports in the media today, regarding the care of a cancer patient, members of the INO at Limerick Regional Hospital would like to place on record, their disappointment that a work colleague, Professor Ranjnish Gupta, has sought to sensationalise a situation that did not actually happen. In relation to today’s media report the detail of this particular situation is that the phone did not ring for a sufficient period of time to allow for any response.

Members wish to advise all oncology patients that there is no threat or attempt to jeopardise any of their care in the Oncology Unit. A system is in place where the phones on the unit are being attended at all times.  All documentation and appropriate care is being provided for patients at this hospital.
