INO Members Vindicated In Cobh General Hospital Dispute. 11/01/07

PRESS RELEASE, Thursday, January 11th, 2007

The Irish Nurses Organisation has suspended industrial action in the 42 bedded Care of the Older Person Private Hospital in Cobh.

The protests and industrial action began on 19th December last in response to stark concerns regarding deficits in care standards in the hospital.

The INO had requested the appointment of an expert nurse facilitator to address the serious concerns of the nurses and have accepted an offer from the HSE to provide this.  This work will commence immediately.

Speaking earlier today, Patsy Doyle, Industrial Relations Officer said:

“The INO members in Cobh Hospital have expressed their satisfaction at the resolution of the dispute on behalf of their patients.

The industrial action was always a last resort and we look forward to working with the staff and management of Cobh Hospital to secure and maintain improvements in standards of care.”
