PRESS RELEASE, Monday, July 29th, 2013
The INMO, in conjunction with trade unions IMPACT and SIPTU, have commended workers for their tremendous response to the disastrous flooding that closed large parts of Letterkenny General Hospital last weekend.
In a joint statement, Donegal Trade Union Officials from the INMO, IMPACT and SIPTU said,
“The quick thinking of staff and management to the impromptu flash flooding certainly saved lives. Currently services are being prioritised and although the situation is fluid, the hospital is reviewing, assessing and planning.
Staff and management are to be congratulated for continuing to deliver services under very difficult circumstances. There has been a heroic response from hospital staff and management, Gardaí, Fire Services, Army, council staff and community volunteers. Although major questions need to be answered, we should all be grateful for the unselfish response of those involved.
We are reassured by the public commitments given by the Minister and senior health managers to ensuring that Letterkenny General will come through these dark days and be reopened in full and back delivering its much needed diverse and wide ranging health services to the people of the North West”.
