I refer to the agreement, in the context of the transfer of four tasks, for the restoration of the time plus one-sixth premium payment, applicable from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m., to all nurses/midwives in acute hospitals, from 1st January 2016.
In recent weeks the INMO has been actively engaged, with senior HSE management, demanding absolute clarity with regard to the specific dates, in each hospital, for the restoration of this premium including retrospection.
In that regard I now attach, for your immediate attention, the schedule of payment dates, hospital by hospital, secured from the HSE which details the exact arrangements that will apply, regarding the restoration of this payment.
All members, working in the acute hospitals listed, are now requested to check their bank accounts to ensure the following:
The recommencement of this premium payment, in acute hospitals, is the latest step in the INMO’s ongoing efforts to have all terms and conditions, cut during the economic recession, restored to our members. In that regard we are now in ongoing discussions, with the HSE, to secure the restoration of this time plus one-sixth premium in the remaining areas of the service i.e. care of the elderly/intellectual disability/community.
Subject to confirmation that payments have been made, as specified in the attached list, the INMO will be commencing discussions, with the Department of Health/HSE, on this Thursday, 12th January 2017, with regard to our demands for initiatives to address the Staffing/Recruitment/Retention crisis facing nursing and midwifery at this time. These discussions are in the context of the recent result of our national ballot which confirmed 90% of INMO members were supportive of industrial action, if necessary, in pursuance of special initiatives to address the current crisis.
Further updates will issue, on an ongoing basis, in relation to these discussions and any other relevant developments with regard to our national campaign.
Thank you for your attention to this note.
