The Maynooth University (National University of Ireland Maynooth) is the fastest growing university in Ireland with approximately 10,000 students and outstanding research and scholarship in the sciences, humanities and social sciences. The university is now entering a new and exciting phase of its development, with a new strategic plan centred on further enhancing our academic programmes, providing a distinctive student experience of the highest quality, focusing our research activities on a small number of priority themes, and further internationalising the university. Maynooth University Student Services
(One Year Contract, 0.4 FTE)
The Student Health Centre provides primary health care to registered students of Maynooth University and St. Patrick’s College Maynooth, in collaboration with their own general practitioners and other health professionals. The Student Health Centre is located in the Student Services Centre on the North Campus of Maynooth University. Its ethos is to provide an approachable, professional, confidential, non-judgmental service to all students in a supportive environment. The Student Health Centre is staffed by one General Practitioner, two Nurses and one Administrator. The Health Centre staff report to the Student Support Officer, who in turn reports to the Director of Student Services.
We are seeking a Nurse (Administrative Officer II grade), on a temporary part-time basis (2 days per week), who will provide and administer a comprehensive health and welfare service for students, which incorporates treatment and preventative elements as part of that service. The Nurse will also take a leading role in health promotion activities within the University.
Applicants should note that at certain critical periods, there will be a requirement to work outside normal office hours, including weekends (during student examination sessions in May, August, January). It is not normally possible to take significant annual leave during the academic term or during examination sessions. A minimum level of Nursing cover must be provided at all times in the Health Centre.
