White Ribbon Ireland have been working closely with the INMO to raise awareness on issues of gender-based violence. White Ribbon Ireland is the national movement of the world's largest male-led campaign to end men's violence against women, with a presence in over 60 countries. Our annual conference takes place on November 25th, International White Ribbon day and is followed by 16-days of action to end men's violence against women. In preparation for the 16 days, we are keen to have nurses involved and hear their voices on this issue. We aim to encourage education and leadership around these issues by speaking directly to those in power, those who educate, and people on the ground to change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to and perpetuate men’s violence against women, by engaging boys and men to lead social change, and to achieve gender equality.
To this end, we have teamed up with a film-production team to shoot short video interviews with nurses about their experiences of treating survivors of domestic violence, and other forms of gender-based violence. Watch Video below.
As nurses, we feel you are in a unique position as first responders to shine a light on an issue that thrives in darkness and silence. We encourage any of you who are interested, male or female, to email us at email@example.com and we will get in contact with you straight away. Alternatively you can contact Ann Keating, INMO Media Relations Officer on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
