Members Update 19 - 09.08.18
As members may be aware the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER), issued a Spending Review 2018 - Health Expenditure: Nursing and Midwifery paper prepared by IGEES.
The INMO responded to this, challenging the assumptions underpinning the rhetoric that Ireland has adequate numbers of nursing/midwifery staff and that the entry pay is competitive.
Please read our letter, together with initial response from Department of Public Expenditure & Reform (DPER) (letters here)
. You will note that the question we pose, at the closing paragraph of our letter:
- “In light of the above, the INMO is requesting the Minister to formally and publicly confirm that the views presented in the paper are not those of the Department of the Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform”
has not been replied to.
In addition, together with our colleagues in the Irish Medical Organisation, we have sought confirmation, through the Public Services Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, that no further delay will be imposed by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform on receipt of the Report from the Public Service Pay Commission (PSPC). We have requested the Public Service Committee of the ICTU write to the PSPC requesting the report be issued to the INMO/IMO at the same time as it is issued to government - Letters can be accessed here.
Thank you for your attention.
