Urgent Notice To Members - Thursday, December 3, 2015
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) notes the publication, this evening, by the NMBI of a list of recommendations, for major reform, of the Board arising from an external organisational review.
The INMO met with the NMBI, this afternoon, and was given a copy of the recommendations, from this external review, but the Board declined to furnish a copy of the full report.
In addition, the Board also declined to provide the Organisation with a copy of a second report which, apparently, has examined the Board’s internal financial management procedures.
The INMO also notes that the recommendations, published this evening, clearly indicate that the Board requires radical change in order for it to fulfil its statutory requirements.
It is clear that this review, and its findings, completely vindicate the INMO’s successful campaign, earlier this year, to oppose the 50% increase (to €150) in the annual retention fee, sought by the NMBI. It also vindicates the successful strategy, of the INMO, to ensure, under the Lansdowne Road Agreement, that the current €100 retention fee is maintained up to, and including, 2018.
The INMO’s Executive Council, at its meeting next Monday/Tuesday, will consider these latest developments, including a report from this afternoon’s meeting with NMBI management and issue an advice note to all members thereafter.
