Re:   Social Partnership Talks Adjourned

Dear Colleague,

I refer to previous news updates and, in particular, the previously notified decision that the Social Partners, including the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, would recommence partnership discussions in an attempt to arrive at an agreed national recovery plan based on the ICTU Ten Point Plan.

It has now been agreed that these discussions will be adjourned until after Easter, to allow all parties to consider the implications, arising from yesterday’s emergency budget, and to review progress on a number of central issues.

In this context, click here to read the copy of the agreed statement issued yesterday, which seeks to outline the content of the recent discussion, their current status and the agreement to recommence talks after the Easter Break.

In addition to all of this the INO, together with other Health Service Unions, is meeting this afternoon, with Professor Drumm, CEO of the Health Service Executive, and his Senior Management colleagues, to consider the implications, for staff and services, arising from the Government’s recent announcement regarding a moratorium on recruitment into the public service, including the Health service.  A further news update will be issued tomorrow, in relation to this afternoon’s meeting.

Thank you for your attention to this note and I would ask you to bring it to the attention of members in your workplace.

As always, may I again take this opportunity to thank you for your on-going help and assistance, towards the Organisation, in these very difficult times.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely

LIAM DORAN
GENERAL SECRETARY.
