24/7 Front Line Alliance: National Rally 18.02.13

13th February 2013

Attention: All INMO Members

As part of our campaign to protect members from any cuts/reduction to the pay they receive for working unsocial hours i.e. Sunday/ Night Duty / Twilight Hours the 24/7 Frontline Services Alliance is holding a National Rally next Monday evening the 18th February.

This rally, which will be an opportunity for Nurses, Midwives, Gardaí, Prison Officers and other essential frontline workers, to come together in a public show of solidarity to protect the income they all receive for providing 24/7 / 365 day essential services.  In order to make a highly visible public statement, thus demonstrating the resolve of all of these grades and groups to stand together, it is essential that this national rally be well attended.  In that regard all members, through coming together locally and through their branches, are asked to make immediate arrangements to ensure the largest numbers possible are in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght at 6pm on this Monday.   Your local IRO is available to assist, in finalising arrangements, and buses may be hired with the cost being met by the joint 24/7 frontline fund which has been established.

In order to highlight this rally I attach, to this notice, a poster giving details of the rally which we would ask you to photocopy, display and circulate throughout your workplace.  Also attached is an information sheet detailing the proposed cuts.

This rally is the first real opportunity for members to demonstrate to government, and their public services colleagues, their unswerving commitment to protect their income.  We must ensure, by a large attendance, that this message is heard by everyone involved in the current Croke Park Extension discussions.

Thank you for your attention to this note and all roads lead to Tallaght on Monday evening.
