Director Of Professional Development
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), is the largest professional trade union, for nurses and midwives, in Ireland and represents over 43,000 members in all disciplines and areas of the Irish health service.
The Organisation provides the full range of services, required by members, including industrial relations, continuing education and professional development, together with the most comprehensive dedicated library and research facilities in the country.
Owing to pending retirement, later this year, the INMO is now seeking a Director of Professional Development.
The Director of Professional Development will, in conjunction with a small management team, lead, direct and manage the Professional Development Centre which is an integral part of the Organisation’s activities. The Centre is a leading provider of professional development programmes and has a tremendous track record of providing a wide range of high standard, and targeted, programmes across the country.
The Director of Professional Development will have a high level of experience, and ability, at senior level to build on the existing profile of the INMO’s Professional Development Centre. S/he must have the skills and experience to collaborate with national and international organisations and to continue to build on the very extensive, and successful, networks and partnerships that already exist.
The appointee will therefore have expertise with regard to national, and international, nursing/midwifery policies and the trends pertaining to same. In addition knowledge and experience of health policy and trends, regulation, education and accreditation, will be required.
The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills and extensive experience of undertaking research policy development and presenting at both national and international level. Finally the successful candidate will be expected to support all other activities, of the INMO, from a professional/educational perspective.
Qualifications Required: The successful candidate must:
- be a registered nurse or midwife;
- have a Masters degree in nursing/midwifery or related subject;
- have experience of management at a senior level.
